WELCOME TO WIRREANDA ON WHEATSHEAF

We acknowledge the Kaurna Nation and its people as the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land on which we are located, in Morphett Vale in the City of Onkaparinga. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging. We remember Kaurna people’s spiritual relationship with country and the impact it has on the wellbeing and prosperity of Kaurna and other First Nations people.

Christmas Hours!

We would like to advise that Wirreanda on Wheatsheaf Surgery and Clinpath will be closed from Tuesday 24th December at 1pm until Thursday 2nd January at 8.30am.

If you require medical attention whilst we are closed, our telephone will diver you to the after-hours service (8326 6999).

If your condition is urgent, you should either call and ambulance or present to the nearest emergency department.

You can also consider an Urgent Care Centre – find these at: https://www.health.gov.au/find-a-medicare-ucc

We wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a healthy Happy New Year!

We are aware of the extended waiting times to see a GP or have an appointment at the moment. Please be reassured that we are engaging various strategies to help minimise the delay. Please advise a reception staff member if you issue is urgent. We appreciate your patience whilst we manage the changing workforce at the clinic currently.

If you are unable to get an urgent appointment at WOWS, please consider using a Medicare funded Urgent Care Centre if your problem does not require management at an emergency department.

Find your local Urgent Care Centre at: http://health.gov.au/medicareucc

Good luck Dr Sargent! We will miss you!!!

Dr Charmaine Sargent retired on April 23rd.

Dr Sargent has been a GP since 1989.What a marvellous career she has enjoyed! It is a true privilege to be a GP and it is a vocation that Charmaine has embraced and thrived in.

Charmaine has also been an avid teacher of medical student and GP registrars. She has been part of the leadership team at the clinic and has taught many of us so much.

We have absolutely loved working with Char over the many years and are sad that we won’t be seeing her quite as much. But we’re very happy that she will be able to spend valuable time with her family, including some very cute new members!!!

FLU VACCINE APPOINTMENTS ARE OPEN!!!

Please call to book in your Flu vaccine.

We are only able to offer the flu vaccine to those who are eligible for funded vaccinations by SA immunisation Schedule.

As per SA Immunisation Schedule the flu vaccine is recommended for:

  • All medically at risk persons aged 6 months and older – eg, diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, respiratory diseases, immunocompromised (eg, cancer treatment, on immunosuppressive therapy), amongst others
  • Pregnant persons
  • All Aboriginal persons age 6mo and older
  • All children aged 6 months – 5yrs old
  • All persons aged 65yrs and older

We are also in the process of arranging Shingrix vaccines. There are some stock shortages of the Shingrix vaccine so please be patient with us. We are currently prioritising people who require completion of their course (ie, second dose).

All those aged 65yrs and older are eligible. Shingrix is NOT a live vaccine and therefore is suitable for those who are immunocompromised. This is different to the previous vaccine which was not safe for this group.

We are also VERY happy to announce – Dr Dang is back! Please join us in welcoming Dr Dang back to WOWS. She has now completed her RACGP fellowship and is officially a Specialist General Practitioner, aka, a specialist in life.

We hope everyone was able to enjoy a lovely Easter break!
