PRINCIPAL DOCTORS

Dr Lou Christodoulou

Please be aware that Lou retired at the end of 2023 – he will be greatly missed at the practice by staff and patients. Enjoy your well earned retirement Lou!

Lou has been in full time general practice since 1983.  He graduated from Adelaide University in 1980 and completed three years at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, post-graduation.  He holds the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, Diploma of Obstetrics and Diploma of medical Hypnosis.  He enjoys all aspects of General practice and has a special interest in Chronic Disease Management and the care of the elderly.

 

He speaks Greek and enjoys travelling, food, movies, golf, attending the gym and new experiences.  He is married with two adult children.

 

 

Dr Michael Ludlow

Michael has been in full time general practice since 1989. He graduated from Flinders University in 1986 and has completed post graduate training in Family Medicine, holds a diploma in Obstetrics, and was awarded a Fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practice in 2009. He is a member of the AMA and RACGP. He is passionate about General Practice and has special interest in Shared Obstetric Care, chronic disease management such as diabetes & heart disease, general dermatology and simple skin lesion excisions.

 

Other interests include running, cycling, sailing and visiting the gym. He follows most sports and is an avid crows fan. He loves to travel and experience other cultures. He is married with 2 adult children.

 

 

 

Dr Charmaine Sargent

Charmaine graduated from Flinders University in 1986 and after further study became a fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2009. She has also completed a Diploma in Obstetrics and is a qualified Lactation Consultant.

Charmaine worked for the Royal flying Doctor service for 10 years providing services to rural women in remote locations within South Australia.

 

Charmaine is married and has two grown-up children. She enjoys time spent with family,Sailing, travelling, walking along the beach and enjoying life.

 

Charmaine is interested in women’s health, shared Obstetric care, Palliative Care and Paediatrics. She is involved in teaching medical students and junior doctors. Charmaine loves general practice!

Charmaine brings a wealth of experience with over 30 years as a GP.

 

 

Dr Clare Keogh

Clare graduated from University of Adelaide in 2012. She then worked at the Royal Adelaide Hospital for 3 years including rotations in Obstetrics and Paediatrics at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Clare completed her specialty training in General Practice in early 2018 and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practice.

Clare has completed additional training including the Sydney Child Health Program (formerly known as the Diploma of Child Health), through Westmead Hospital in Sydney, and completion of training for both Implanon and IUD insertion & removal.

Clare is happy to provide IUD insertions/ removals, Implanon insertion/ removal and PrEP to non-regular patients of the clinic – please call the clinic for further advice.

 

Clare has a keen interest in sexual and reproductive health (including PrEP prescribing), contraceptive options, gender inclusive medicine, paediatrics and chronic disease management. Clare is one of the doctors who enjoys teaching medical students and registrars. Clare particularly enjoys and feels privileged to provide long term care to individuals and their families.

 

Clare joined the practice principal team in mid 2021 and looks forward to the leadership aspect of this role and helping to ensure delivery of quality care to patients.

Outside of work Clare has a keen interest in live music, travel, art/craft and cooking. She enjoys spending time with her partner, family and puppy Jemima!

 

 

DOCTORS

Dr Nina Holmwood

Independent Practitioner

Nina graduated from Flinders University in 2014 following completion of a Bachelor of Science (Biotechnology) at Adelaide University. She spent the next two years working in Mt Gambier Hospital before returning to Adelaide to start specialist General Practice training. Nina worked at WOWS for 12 months during this period and we are pleased to welcome her back. She completed her Fellowship of General Practice in 2019.

Nina also spent 12 months working at DASSA (Drug and Alcohol Services South Australia) as part of her specialist training.

 

Nina sees patients over the entire age spectrum and is currently enjoying the breadth of work that general practice provides, with particular interest in paediatrics and adolescent health.

She enjoys spending time outside of work gardening (with her dog), listening to podcasts and traveling.

 

 

Dr Matthew Crabb

Matthew completed his Medical Doctorate at Flinders University in 2013, followed by training rotations through Noarlunga Hospital, Flinders Medical Centre and the Repatriation General Hospital.

Matthew completed his speciality training in General Practice in 2019 and became a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practice.

 

Matthew has an interest in Paediatrics, Emergency, Dermatology and Skin Cancer Medicine and has completed the following additional training in these areas:

  • Diploma of Child Health, through Westmead Hospital
  • Professional Certificate of Skin Cancer Surgery (HC Education)
  • Professional Diploma of Skin Cancer Medicine (HC Education)
  • Professional Diploma of Dermoscopy (HC Education)
  • Emergency Medicine Certificate (ACEM)

Matthew provides a skin check service at the clinic, and manages skin lesions both surgically and through topical based treatments. He is happy to do skin checks on patients who are not registered with the clinic.

He is a member of the International Dermoscopy Society.

Matthew has completed research in the field of Ophthalmology, publishing a number of papers, and presenting his work at a National Conference.

 

Matthew is a permanent doctor working full time and Saturdays on a rotational basis. He is married with one son and enjoys cooking, travel, running and pop culture.

You might see Matthew running at the local Christies Beach Parkrun on a Saturday morning.

 

 

Dr Thu Dang

Independent Practitioner

Since graduating from Flinders University Thu has worked in various hospitals across SA, regional Victoria, NSW and Tasmania. Thu is interested in all aspects of General Practice, particularly paediatrics and mental health. Outside of work she is a passionate vegan and enjoy volunteering in animal rescue.

 

Dr Jessica McIntyre

Independent Practitioner

Jessica has recently moved back to SA from Geelong in Victoria and graduated from Deakin University in 2013. Jessica is a fellow of the RACGP and completed her GP training in Warrnambool and Geelong in 2019. Afterwards she went on to complete a Diploma of Obstetrics at Geelong hospital in 2021 and during covid times made the decision to relocate back to beautiful SA.

Jessica spent another 18 months as a resident under the FMC Obstetrics and Gynaecology team and currently works part time in the emergency department at FMC and Noarlunga. Jessica enjoys all aspects of general practice and is looking forward to being part of the Wirreanda on Wheatsheaf team. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys spending time with her family, border collie and 2 cats.

 

 

Dr Rebecca Langhans

GP Registrar

Rebecca completed her medical degree at the University of Adelaide in 2021. She spent her internship year working at the Royal Adelaide Hospital as well as completing a Rural General Practice term in the Riverland. In 2023 she spent the year at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital working in both Paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She has an interest in both these areas and is currently undertaking her Certificate in Women’s Health. Rebecca is currently in the RACGP Training Program as a GP Registrar and hopes to complete her training by the end of 2025.

Outside of work Rebecca enjoys running/hiking, travel and spending time with friends and family.

PRACTICE MANAGER

Kerrie

Kerrie has been with the practice since 2002.  She has previously worked in other southern general practices since 1982.  Kerrie has a Diploma of Management and Certificate IV in Business Management.

Kerrie enjoys spending time with friends,family and looking after her granddaughter. Kerrie also loves the beach, food, travel and shopping!  She is married with 2 adult children.

NURSES

Kirsty – Registered Nurse

Kirsty is a qualified RN in the UK since 2005. Kirsty has worked in Orthopaedics then short term in Cardiac before General Practice. Kirsty and her family immigrated to Australia in 2007 and has worked at Wirreanda on Wheatsheaf Surgery for over 9 years.

Kirsty is married with two children and enjoys family, going to the beach and camping holidays.

Deb – Enrolled Nurse

We are delighted to welcome Deb to the team! Deb has a wealth of experience in general practice nursing and is enjoying her time getting to know Adelaide.

ADMIN/RECEPTION

Donna

Donna has worked at Wirreanda on Wheatsheaf since 2014 and has many years’ experience as a Medical Receptionist.

She enjoys socialising with her friends, wine tasting, live music, visits to the country and spending time with her 14 nieces & nephews.

Jill

The WOWS team welcome Jill who has worked in general practice for over 30 years. Jill is married and has 3 children.

Kerri

Welcome to Kerri who joins our Admin team. Kerri has previously worked as a medical receptionist for eight years and in customer service for 27 years. Kerri is married with two children and loves spending time with family and friends and enjoys the beach, travel and walking.
